Voluum is an ad tracking platform that can provide you with live event data enriched with over 30 data points. The recorded data can be then analyzed in reports or rerouted with Rule-based paths.

How Does Tracking Work?

Voluum uses two tracking methods: a redirect method that redirects a visitor through a tracking domain to record data, or direct tracking that uses scripts. You can use both of them with GeoSpot Media. The direct method, while recommended, requires you to have at least one page that you can edit to add a tracking script (offer or landing page).

The redirect method is easier to set up and allows you to use Rule-based paths but may add a small delay to the funnel.

Note: Voluum has a tracking template for GeoSpot Media, which makes setting up tracking a breeze.

What You Can Do With Tracked Data?

Data that Voluum records is available instantly for analysis. You can then:

  • Create detailed reports using grouping or drill-down options to adjust your targeting in GeoSpot Media

  • Segment your audience using Rule-based paths (only with the redirect method)

  • A/B test your landing pages or offers manually or with machine learning (only with the redirect method)

  • Launch alerts if set conditions are met to get notified if an offer dies out or there are some suspicious traffic spikes in your campaigns

  • Automatically create whitelists and blacklists with placement names

What You Need to Set Up Tracking

All you need is an account in Voluum, a landing page set and visible on the net (if you plan to use one), an offer, optionally your own custom domain for tracking, and obviously, a GeoSpot Media account with some funds added.

Setting up tracking

The procedure goes as follows: You start with adding all elements of your campaign (landing page, offer, GeoSpot Media as a traffic source) to Voluum, create a campaign and get a campaign link (if you chose to use direct tracking, you will also get a script).

Then you create a campaign in GeoSpot media and provide the Voluum campaign link as a destination link there. Once your campaign is approved, you will see events in Voluum immediately.

01 Add campaign elements to Voluum

These are the elements to be assemble in Voluum:

  • Traffic source: Click ‘Create’, select ‘Traffic source’ and then select GeoSpot Media from the list of available templates.

  • Affiliate network (optional): Add it if you source your offer from an affiliate network. This will help you set up tracking tokens for your offer and will make reports clearer. Click ‘Create’, select ‘Affiliate network’ and then select the network from the list of templates.

  • Offer: Click ‘Create’, select ‘Offer’ and then put the link to your offer. Select the affiliate network (if you have added one) and append the tracking tokens that are shown below the offer link to the link.

  • Lander (optional): Click ‘Create’, select ‘Lander’ and then paste the link to your landing page.

02 Create a campaign in Voluum

Once you have all the necessary elements added to Voluum, it’s time to create a campaign. Click ‘Create’ and select either ‘Simple’ (if you don’t want to set up Rule-based paths) or ‘Advanced’ campaign.

  1. Provide a name for the campaign.

  2. Select GeoSpot Media as your traffic source.

  3. Select a tracking method.

  4. Select a lander and an offer

  5. Click ‘Save’ and you will get a Campaign URL (for redirect tracking) or Lander/Offer URL with Lander or Offer tracking script (for the direct method and depending if you use a lander or not).

Copy them to a text editing tool. Voluum tracking scripts need to be implemented into the code of your landing page or offer page. Once you do so, go to GeoSpot Media.

03 Create a campaign in GeoSpot Media

Now you need to create a campaign in GeoSpot Media. Log in to the panel and start setting up a campaign.

  1. Provide essential campaign information, such as name and ad domain.

  2. Set up budget and targeting options.

  3. In the ‘Creative’ section, paste the Voluum link as a Click URL and upload a creative.

  4. Save the campaign and wait for it to be approved.

04 Set Up a Traffic Source Postback URL

You can use a traffic source postback URL to pass conversion information from Voluum to GeoSpot Media. The postback is already set in the traffic source’s template in Voluum but you need to update it with your API key to register conversions.

Grab an API key from GeoSpot Media, edit the GeoSpot Media traffic source in Voluum and replace the REPLACE placeholder in a traffic source postback URL with your API Key.

For GSM360, here is the traffic source postback URL to pass the "Install" event along with the "Payout"
